Backflow Preventer Testing in Broward County

If your property has an irrigation system, a fire line or a commercial connection, your water utility may require an annual backflow preventer test. The device keeps irrigation or process water from flowing back into the public supply, and utilities in Fort Lauderdale, Oakland Park and Wilton Manors send reminder notices when a test is due.

What the test involves

  • Checking that the device's check valves and relief valve open and close at the right pressures
  • Recording the readings on the utility's form
  • Recommending repair or replacement if the device fails

When you need it

  • You received a notice from your city or water utility
  • You installed a new irrigation system or replaced the meter
  • Your HOA or condo association asks for proof of testing

Note: testing and filing must be done by a tester certified for your utility. Ask us for the tester's certification details when you book.
